It’s interesting how the Lord works sometimes. Kelly and I have been volunteering in the Alzheimer’s ward and I was telling my mom last night about all the new friends we have made. While I was in the middle of a story Mom interrupted me and asked if Kelly was home. Since mom is planning our family trip to Florida I thought she wanted to talk to us both at the same time about our flight information. However, when mom’s voice changed and said she needed to discuss something with us I knew it had nothing to do with flight plans. After a little coaxing I convinced her that she needed to tell me whatever it was now and could speak with Kelly, who is my cousin if I haven’t mentioned that yet, later. Mom began to tell me how my grandpa Gapo was diagnosed with medium Alzheimer’s yesterday morning. I couldn’t believe it! I called my grandma Emma right away to speak with her about things that she needs. We had a good cry together and I let her know how much I love them both. Even writing this makes me cry. This man has influenced my life since I was born. He introduced me to my first baseball team. Slumber parties are the best at the grandparent’s house! Grandpa claims that the only thing he knows how to make is pancakes and homemade syrup. (Typical Mexican man! Love it!) We would fall asleep watching boxing together and wake up in the morning to grandpa making us pancakes. I love this man. I know the Lord is watching over our family and I am so glad they have better medication for Alzheimer’s patients today than they did five years ago. Feel free to add Agapito Lozano Limon and Emma Limon to the prayer roles at the temple or to your prayers. Thanks for being such great friends guys and letting me vent! Love you all!

Oh, I'll keep him in my prayers! I spent every afternoon this summer chatting with viejitas con alzheimers, so I have a special spot in my heart for your papito. I hope you're family is doing OK too. Besos,
Shannon
THANKS FOR THE CHAT! Love your fam. and I am sorry to hear about grandpa! That really stinks!
Oh Ash, I'm sorry about your grandpa. You'll both be in our prayers! Love you.
Gapo is the greatest, just like all Latin American abuelitos. All of you are going to do great. Love you!!!
Ash...I know this is pretty late b/c I haven't blogged in a while, but I hope you know I love you tons and will definitely be praying for you and your whole family. My nana had the same thing, but it was an extreme case, so needless to say, I know exactly how frustrating and sad it can be. I love you though and I know that your whole family is strong-- you're all little spiritual boxers! Give me a call if you ever need to talk or just want to hear my wonderful voice ;-) Love ya!!!
